Meet Amber Antle

I am an ASHA-certified speech-language pathologist (M.S. CCC-SLP) who is licensed in both California and Texas. I received my master's degree from Baylor University in 2013 and spent many years working for a leading private practice in the San Francisco Bay Area before starting Antle Pediatric Speech in Texas.

I have worked with a range of communication needs and use a strengths-based approach to target goals in my areas of expertise: gestalt language processing, childhood apraxia of speech, selective mutism, social-pragmatic language, speech sound disorders, expressive/receptive language development, and AAC.

Amber Antle

I believe in looking at the whole child and working with a child’s full support team. I have a special interest in working with Autistic individuals and am currently pursing certification as a Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. I am trained in Natural Language Acquisition for gestalt language processors and PROMPT, a specialized approach for children with apraxia. I am a member of the Selective Mutism Association and a life-long learner and advocate. I am passionate about helping children learn practical and meaningful communication skills and, simultaneously, equipping families to grow their child’s communication skills at home.

FAQ

  • Do you take insurance?
We are not in-network with any insurance provider at this time. We provide a detailed invoice designed for insurance reimbursement, also known as a superbill. Please check with your insurance provider to understand your reimbursement rate for out-of-network services.
  • Where are you located?
We are located in Northwest Austin and offer in-home sessions in the surrounding areas. Sessions can also be held in various community locations including schools, libraries, and parks depending on your child’s goals. Virtual sessions are offered to all Texas and California residents. Periodic in-home sessions to California residents will be offered.
  • Are virtual sessions actually helpful?
Virtual sessions are convenient for you and, yes, they can be very helpful. Not every family is a good candidate, and we can discuss if this is an option for you. Over the years, I have provided virtual sessions regularly, supporting numerous families and continue to be impressed with the results. Virtual sessions include a combination of parent coaching, home program implementation, and direct interaction through interactive backgrounds, games, videos, video-modeling, pretend play, and other methods. Just like any therapy session, individualized strategies are embedded throughout and taught to each family. If you are scheduled for in-person sessions, I may recommend periodic virtual sessions for parent coaching and home-program implementation. Equipping families to be independent is one of my goals in every program.
  • Selective Mutism—What role does a speech therapist play?
Selective mutism is an anxiety-based disorder that affects ones ability to participate and communicate in certain places at certain times. A speech-language pathologist (SLP) can assess and help overcome any speech and language deficits that may be contributing and build communication skills. A SLP ideally works alongside a psychologist to best support each child's progress. If you're unsure where to start, give us a call and we can connect you with the right support.
  • What can I expect from a comprehensive assessment?
Comprehensive assessments bring to light your child’s biggest areas of need and an appropriate, effective treatment plan. If your child has not been assessed within the last 6 months, we may recommend an assessment before starting therapy. Our comprehensive assessments highlight your child’s interests and strengths. They are done over several sessions and include input from various professionals and educators. It combines informal and formal testing measures which may include receptive and expressive language, language learning style (gestalt or analytic), play and social interactions, articulation skills, and other appropriate areas. After the assessment is complete, you will meet with Amber Antle to review the results and receive a detailed, written report and treatment plan. We will also make any additional referrals that may be needed.
